Facilities & Geofences
As we have already seen in our article on creating facilities, the correct creation of facilities in Fr8App at the beginning of setting up your account has many benefits.
And one of them is the possibility of benefiting from geofencing for real-time automated operation of your shipments:
- When you create your Facilities, you have the possibility to enter their exact location in Google Maps through different methods.
- Once you enter the location of that facility of origin or destination of your shipments, Fr8app will create a geofence with a diameter of 0.5 miles in relation to the location.
- Thanks to the automated tracking of shipments and the work of our operators, positions of the units in the shipment are recorded.
- When the unit enters the geofence around its Facility, the platform changes the corresponding status automatically.
- If you have automated notifications enabled, Fr8app will also automatically notify you with this relevant information about your shipment.
Examples of Geofencing & Automatic Status Changes
Here are some examples of the use and operation of this functionality, much appreciated by our shippers:
- When a shipment in dispatched status approaches the pickup location geofence, the system automatically changes the status of the shipment to At Pick Up, and notifies all parties involved.
- When a shipment that was loading at the origin location with its At Pick Up or Loading status, moves away and leaves the geofence, the system automatically switches the shipment to In Transit and notifies all parties involved.
- When an In Transit load approaches its destination point at the border recorded in the system (warehouse, transfer, yards, customs broker, etc.), the system automatically changes the load At Border and notifies the parties involved.
- When a load that started its transit enters the geofence of the destination location, the system automatically switches the load to At Destination and notifies the parties involved.
- Etc.
